(My Rating: 5 / 5)
I think even if Guevara never went on to become who he eventually did, this book would still be enjoyable from merely a literary point of view.
He writes well, with great insight and a cheeky sense of humour.
But the book also reveals a lot of what drove Che to become who he eventually did.
As he narrates what he sees during his travels, one can simultaneously sense the gradual change in his outlook and attitude as he witnesses the plight of the common man. By the end of the book, he is a different man – so utterly moved and angered by what he sees that it seems to leave him with no choice but to do something about it.
