(Updated: March 2016:)

A full-time mother/wife/daughter-in-law/daughter who takes her responsibilities very seriously but also dreams of WRITING novels as she TRAVELS the world, experimenting with PHOTOGRAPHY and FOOD.

I began this blog in 2013 but stopped blogging around 6 months in. Then two years later (around 5 months ago) I began again.

While much has changed around me since 2013, I realise that my interests have remained the same – they were just lying dormant, while other parts of my life took precedence.

My blog, which used to be called Can I Do It All? had a tagline that said:

“Building a new relationship with old companions – Writing, Photography, Travel and Food – as I journey into motherhood.”

Today I have changed my blog’s name to Sleeping Frogs and the new tagline reads:

A sanctuary for my interests – Writing, Photography, Travel and Food – in those precious moments when I’m not juggling frogs.

May 2013:

I am a freelance writer who works with corporate communications and ghostwriting.

I am a full time Mum, living in Bangalore, India.

I am nuts about good food, photography, books, travel & culture and I am an unpublished writer of fiction.

After a year-long break from work and pursuing the things that interest me, I am trying to get back on track, while also adjusting to my new role as a Mum. This blog is about that journey and more.

I am……Gitanjali Singh Cherian

  1. Geetalnjali! I’m a person who takes liberty at passing on suggestions 🙂 …Sorry for sounding rude (if it sounds so, although I have no such intentions) but I believe that readers experience can be enhanced by making some changes. here are these. 1) Try to create menu for categories to which each post belong. you can also choose to list categories on your side bar. 2) on your home page only excerpts should appear rather than the whole post. currently, one has to keep scrolling to read old posts. I’m not sure if this option is something that your current theme offers. I’m sure you’ll find these changes useful! I you have a great blog…That’s I pressed the follow button!! Thanks! 🙂

      1. Hi Arv! Thank you so much for your suggestions.
Re. 1) I do have categories and also have them in the sidebar, but since you saw them only later and they didn’t grab your attention at first glance, maybe I do need to consider changing my blog theme or modifying the existing one, because these things should grab the readers’ attention at first glance.
Re. 2) This is something I always debate about in my head 🙂 I keep wondering whether having only excerpts sometimes deters the viewer from clicking to check out the whole post and if displaying the whole post sort of “forces” the viewer to look at the entire thing. What if they don’t like the initial picture/s but may like the later ones? And sometimes I feel I have got more likes for the ones that have the whole post displayed. But I completely get what you mean about it being a pain to scroll through a long post to get to the next one. So I am always in a conundrum about this particular point! 🙂
Lots of food for thought here! Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your feedback. It is very thoughtful of you and I really appreciate it. And now I’m off to check out your blog 🙂

      2. Hey Geetanjali! I guess I missed the side bar may be because there was too much.
As for long post, I don’t it’s an issue in itself for me. The only problem is when you land up at blog first time, and you want to explore more….it is really frustrating to scroll down, especially when images are loading! I hope you get what I mean. Well, we all have our preferences…I accept.

Since you are going to be checking it out, will be happy for any (critical) feedback, comments too…My current layout theme etc was also chosen due to feedback from a blogger friend. Let me tell you it’s painful experience to change the theme!! 😦
Thanks so much for writing back!! I’m happy!!
